Thanksgiving and Black Friday Shopping

 Thanksgiving and Black Friday Shopping

Thanksgiving is all about family, good food, and being thankful, but for many, it also means the start of holiday shopping on Black Friday. The day after Thanksgiving has become famous for great sales and early store openings. People would line up outside stores long before they opened, eager to grab the best deals.

As time went on, stores started opening earlier and earlier. They began to open on Thursday evening, right after Thanksgiving dinner. Some even stayed open all day on Thanksgiving! This made shopping a fun, all-night adventure.

I remember my first early morning Black Friday shopping trip. My sisters and I joined in when stores started opening on Thursday evenings. We would plan our shopping spree around different stores that opened at different times—one opened at 4 PM, another at 5 PM, and so on. After our Thanksgiving dinner, we would head out to places like Toys “R” Us, Target, Walmart, and Shopko to find all the things we wanted.

Those late-night shopping trips became a fun tradition for us. We would shop all night, go home for a quick nap, and then meet up again for lunch. It was a great way to bond and kick off the holiday season.

But then 2020 changed things. Many stores started closing on Thanksgiving so employees could spend time with their families. This meant that the early morning openings came back. While it was nice for workers, it also meant we had to change our tradition.

As we got older, staying out all night didn’t sound as fun anymore. Now, we usually meet up for lunch and then go shopping afterward. This way, we still get to enjoy time together while hunting for good deals.

Even though Black Friday shopping has changed over the years, it’s still about being with family, making memories, and getting ready for the holidays. Whether we’re looking for bargains or just having fun together, Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping will always be special to us.
