Welcoming Nellie Jane: A Joyful Arrival
By 7:30 am, I was settled in, IV in place, paperwork signed, and surrounded by supportive faces eagerly awaiting Nellie's arrival. The process moved swiftly, and by 9:00 am, I received the comforting relief of an epidural. Time seemed to fly as the anticipation grew.
Remarkably, by 10:30 am, I was fully dilated. It was a moment that took us all by surprise, even catching our wonderful doctor off guard. In a rush of excitement, with no time for gloves, Dr. Lowder guided Nellie into the world, her head already peeking out, eager to join us.
Nellie made her entrance effortlessly, weighing 7 pounds and 7 ounces, measuring 20 inches long, and blessed with a full head of red hair. Her arrival was met with awe and joy by our family gathered around — my mom, sister Jill, and of course, Evan, whose love and support made this moment even more special.
Nellie's first expression was priceless, a mix of curiosity and wonder, as if pondering the new adventure she had just embarked upon. It was as if she was saying, "What did I get myself into?" Her big brothers, though not entirely convinced at first, soon found the hospital room to be a perfect playground, exploring every corner with infectious enthusiasm.
Grandma and Grandpa brought them to meet their new sister, and while their initial reaction to the new arrival was mixed, their love for her was undeniable from the start.
As we settled into our new rhythm as a family of five, each moment with Nellie brings us more joy than we could have imagined. Her presence has already filled our home with laughter and love, and we can't wait to see the incredible person she will become
